Updates for the 2021 Irrigation Season
2021 Water Rate Increase & Notice from State Water Resources Control Board regarding Ongoing Dry Conditions and Potential Impacts to Water Supply
Effective May 1, 2021 the District’s water rates will be $19.00 per acre per irrigation for flood irrigation and $57.92/acre-foot for drip irrigation. The Board approved these water rate increases at its Special Meeting on March 26, 2021.
On March 22, 2021, the California State Water Resources Control Board (State Board) sent out an early warning notice advising water users of the ongoing dry conditions throughout the state and potential impacts on water supply. Please note that the State Board has indicated that hydrologic conditions since 2020 have been very similar to the drought years of 2014 and 2015. As a result, Pescadero Reclamation District # 2058 (District) may face a difficult irrigation season in 2021.
Given the potential for water shortages this year, crop choices should be made accordingly. While the District cannot guarantee water delivery, it will do everything it can to protect its water users. Please do all you can to irrigate efficiently and in a timely manner giving District staff plenty of time to shut off and start the next customer quickly. Time will be of the essence.
